My Equine Adventures

I have surrounded myself with many horses through out my entire life. It is my true passion and no one could ever take that away from me. All though I started out riding at a very young age my true test of ambition was working for Nancy Ball at the age of 10 years old.  I had managed to talk my neighbor into letting me ride her Thoroughbreds that I watched from my mother’s bedroom window every day. She was hesitant, but a combination of belief and gumption said..."If you can stay on one you can ride one". These Thoroughbreds that I speak of were in- training racehorses.  I got on my first racehorse that afternoon. That over sized dark bay mare didn’t know if I was a joke or an exercise rider. Her name was Speedy Sneaky, and boy was she ever. Needless to say I stayed on that ride, and every ride there after.  I rode for Nancy for 6 years after that. We won many races together with new horses and old.  It was fully because of Nancy Ball that I can ride and train a horse.

For years to fallow I had attended the fairs and race tracks with Nancy every summer and fall to gallop, work-out and care for horses.  Nancy and I would always some how go home with more horses then we came with. She had a heart of gold and she also knew that I would ride and train those horses for the simple cost of a home cooked breakfast after every work out.  She loved to make money and I loved to ride!

So not every one has to go to an up-scale Equestrian Facility to know what they are doing around a horse (all though it is recommended to seek help unless you want to break a bone or two). I have learned everything that I know from observation and trial and error.

Nancy Ball passed about 5 years ago now. She is missed greatly by all that knew the real her.  I continue to rescue, train and enjoy my horses on her farm. Her daughter Linda is kind enough to allow me to use the property just across from my mother’s house. She can still sit in her bedroom and look out the window to watch me ride.
